Brides to be and wedding day makeup!

Congrats on your engagement! So much to do and such little time! Breath in and breath out!  Just know wedding makeup can be pricey! But here are some tips for your wedding day glam!

  • I suggest doing your bridal makeup/hair trial on a day you might be doing engagement pictures and getting your makeup done for your bachelorette party. ( Try different things out )
  • A makeup artist should be booked at least a month in advance.
  • Lashes are a must! Eyelash extensions are super easy a bit pricey but a lash strip works great too!
  • Never get a facial the week of your wedding. It can cause redness and breakouts!
  • Pictures are forever so steer away from trendy instagram or fashion week makeup. Things come and go in style!
  • Wear a shirt that matches the color of your wedding dress so you can get an idea of how it would look. Take Pictures!
  • Get eyebrows done a few days before wedding just to ensure irritation goes down and helps with eyeshadow to go on smoothly.
  • You should pick bridesmaids hair and makeup after all it is your wedding! Helps makeup artist and hairstylist stay organized.
  • Clean and a moisturized face make the best and easiest canvases to work with! No SPF!
  • Eat well and stay hydrated on your wedding day.
  • Don't forget to tip your stylist and their team!

Buy or Bye: Silisponge

 My Take on the Silisponge

Coming in hot from Hong Kong, currently on sale for $9 from indie brand Molly Cosmetics. What it is? It is a makeup sponge (but its not a sponge) made out of silicone and is it non-porous. You might settle for copy cat like violet voss’ perfect weapon, silicone boob inserts aka chicken cutlets or search on eBay for silicone sponge for about the same price or less. I pre-ordered during the 5th restock Silisponge December 2nd 2016 and patiently waited about 2-3 weeks for it to a while and it most defiantly arrived after christmas and I forgot about it when I tucked it away in my box full of secrets.

Let’s be honest: The Silisponge has got to be one of the weirdest tools I have every used to apply my foundation with but I think its a really cool makeup applicator. I ONLY used about a pea size amount of foundation and I spread my foundation around, rubbed in circular motions and dabbed it in. My foundation went a long way but blending took longer than expected and I still had to use a wet beauty blender to give me the airbrushed results I like which seemed a bit EXTRA af.

In my professional opinion (LOL) I truly think this is a fad for now and It wasn't not love for me. I like this new innovative tool but beauty tools come and go.This product is not a must have buy and for now I am going to have to say buh-bye. As a creature of habit once I find a beauty tool I love I usually tend to stick with it and when I find a new tooI I use it for about month and the go back to my old and trusty beauty blender. I feel like most beauties will either love this beauty sponge or hate it. I think the reason I personally don't love the silisponge is simple and I am just not used to applying my foundation with the silisponge. I may have to try it will a different foundation to something.  As a makeup artist I love that it won’t waste product and it is extremely easy to clean and sanitize. I am a little weirded out by cooties and sanitation is one of my biggest priorities but thats actually the only thing I really like about the silisponge.

No Shade, No Tea:  Beauty Gurus, Youtubers, Insta famous influencers could literally push any product regardless if it works or not. I just hate misleading reviews. This was not Gabriella Simmons approved! NEXT...

Eyelash Extenstions: Yay or Nay

Not sure how I got talked into getting eyelash extensions done in a small sketchy room in the back of the nail salon for $30 but it happened and I hated them. They were itchy (She used clusters not individuals) and they were extremely hard to take off. I tried everything from coconut oil, washed my face often and took long hot steamy showers. I ended up ripping half of my eyelashes off, my lashes took a while for them to regrow and boy was it painful! I’m lying I know exactly why I thought it was a good idea (I was balling on a budget while being a broke college girl! Why not!?). After long time of consideration and doing some research I decided to give eyelash extensions another try but wanted them done by a professional. So I called about 4 different places no one got back to me back so on my way to a doctors appointment I saw a cute pink sign that said Sweet and Lashful. Sweet and Lashful is located inside the Beauty Bar in Buckhead. December 8, 2016, was the day I met my lash angel Tammy and she changed my lash game for life.

Final Verdict:  Do your homework and find professional who knows what she/he is doing. With great lashes comes big responsibility and maintenance. I love long and dramatic lashes but my addiction for long full lashes was getting out of control and was spending more than $350 on lash strips, glue, and tweezers (in a year). It was getting expensive especially because I would wear falsies about 3 times a week or more. I have tried a lot of different lashes from cheap to expensive falsies; I would even reused some of my lashes. I’m not a fan of reusing false lashes for sanitary purposes, its gross and with a combination of laziness. True story from the unfortunate events of Gabby: I was at a baseball game in Arizona 90 degree in full glam slaying away and I started to sweat my last strip off I didn't notice (no one had told me my strip was coming off) until some rando pointed it out and I was super embarrassed). Whatever happened to the girl code???  Not to mention I had tired Latisse but as soon as I stopped using it my long lashes fell out and it was expensive as well (fyi: that happens with any lash serum ). Then tried coconut oil and I didn't like the goopy feeling out the oil on my lashes. So for now I say yay to lash extensions. Its been about a month and love them. It has truly cut down my makeup routine but not only that but I tend to wear less makeup now. I got lash extensions because  I had a kidney transplant and medication thinned out my hair and felt like if my eyelashes looked bomb there is no reason to look at my hair lol.
